Speak Truth to Power
TRAINING FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS
SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER
human rights education
Inspired by Kerry Kennedy's book and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Speak Truth to Power (STTP) is a human rights education program that combines storytelling and interactive learning to provide the next generation with the concrete knowledge they will need to create change and promote human rights.
The program was developed by the RFK Human Rights Foundation in 2000, following the book of the same name written by Kerry Kennedy, President of the Foundation, which presents 50 interviews conducted over the years with human rights and social justice advocates in more than 40 countries.
Through these interviews, the contents of the different human rights are taught, with lessons that deal with topics such as the right to life, the right to freedom of thought and expression, the prohibition of torture and inhuman or degrading treatment, political participation, freedom of movement, asylum and refuge, or the right to education, among many others.
The contents of the STTP program are designed and adapted to be taught to elementary, middle school, high school and college students.
